Stokesby is a tiny village nestled up close to the River Bure on the way to Acle from Great YArmouth where you will find The Ferry Inn pub which serves some great food and has huge gardens overlooking the river and plenty of mooring alongside.
There's a lovely village green and some great walks pass by.
St Andrew's Church in Stokesby dates from the 13th Century but various Norman mouldings point to an even earlier building on this site. The rear pews have the original 'poppy heads' from the middle ages depicting a nun at prayer, an eagle, a talbot, a greyhound and a lion with a shield bearing the arms of the Berney family.
The pub gardens in Stokesby are a great location to watch the famous Three Rivers Race organised by Horning Sailing Club which usually takes place over the first weekend in June. This 50 mile race along the rivers Ant, Bure and Thurne is incredibly tactical and attracts more than 150 entrants each year.
