Explore Great Yarmouth
The seaside town of Great Yarmouth is uniquely located on a sandbank between the North Sea and the River Yare, with winding Broads to the north, south and west forming the start of the Broads National Park. Throughout Great Yarmouth you'll find lovely seaside towns and villages all along the coastline, surrounded by stunning Norfolk countryside, dotted with windmills and yacht sails flapping above the hedgerows. Great Yarmouth boasts a total of 15 miles of glorious golden beaches to choose from, stretching from Hopton-on-Sea in the south right up to Winterton-on-Sea in the north before you get into North Norfolk.
The beaches in Great Yarmouth form a stunning coastline with something to suit everyone, from quiet deserted beaches with sand dunes and not another soul in sight to traditional seaside family fun beaches with bouncy castles, deck chairs and donkey rides usually found at Hemsby, Great Yarmouth and Gorleston-on-Sea. Whether you're staying in Great Yarmouth, Caister-on-Sea, Gorleston-on-Sea, Clippesby, Hemsby, Burgh Castle, Hopton-on-Sea or anywhere in between, there's loads of places to go and things to do.
In Great Yarmouth itself, with Britannia Pier to the north and Wellington Pier to the south, Central Beach stretches along the Golden Mile of seafront amusements, entertainment and attractions with plenty of restaurants and cafés, making it one of the best places to visit. Gorleston-on-Sea with its huge bay, children's Splash Pad and yacht pond is a firm family favourite beach along with the spacious beach at Hemsby Hole.
Escape inland for wide open skies, Norfolk countryside, quaint Norfolk villages and the famous Norfolk Broads where day boats, canoes and stand up paddleboards can be hired. The nearest place to hire a day boat in the borough is in Martham or St. Olaves. Rollesby, Ormesby and Filby surround the famous, tranquil Trinity Broads with some fabulous walks and great places to eat and admire the view where rowing boats can also be hired.
